RFID and Returnable Transport Items
A Returnable Transport Item (RTI) is anything that can transport products or goods in bulk, such as pallets, roll cages, Unit Load Devices (ULDs), reusable plastic containers, totes, trays, ingredient bins, dollies, IBCs (i.e. medium-sized bulk containers), gas cylinders, drums, etc.
The use of RTIs has proven indispensable in the transportation sector, as well as in the consumer goods industry. However, RTIs are also subject to supply chain problems, waste, loss, operational inefficiencies, billing and accounting errors, global traceability regulations, and rising management costs.
RFID tags can provide insight into the location of RTIs and the assets they transport. This extends far beyond just the means of transport, but also to the recipients and users of RTIs, where RTIs are stored, and where RTIs need to be billed.
RFID technology can be an essential tool for organizations to better manage, track, trace, and monitor your RTIs as they travel around the world. For example, EasyLogic’s Track and Trace system provides real-time insight into the location of your RTIs.
Depending on the RTI material (metal, plastic, wood, glass) and its contents (liquids or solids, metal products) EasyLogic can select transponders, for example from HID Global, a major partner of ours with a variety of transponders for many applications. We also select the right RFID readers for you, such as handheld scanners, dock-door portal systems, tunnel scanners on a conveyor belt, or an automated RFID system in your own trucks.
